There are portals located above and below the Kingdom of Baros. These portals link to other planes as well as the underdark. Those that learn how to navigate the network of portals are among the most powerful beings alive. History states that the portals were created by an ancient arcane culture. Some believe that the gods were the true architects of the vast network, for truly the architects of so great a power would still be alive today and could not have fallen to ruin.
The portals are accessed by anyone possessing a portal key. These keys are some of the rarest items known to exist. No one knows how to make them or where they come from. The “Chosen” are those lucky enough to find a portal key and actually use it.
