THE KINGDOM OF BAROS
The Kingdom of Baros is an area of the known realm that rose up from a small village to what is now the City of Baros. It is from here that laws are made and councils of elders gather to help move the region forward.
Sitting along Melora’s Waters, the Kingdom has ten major settlements wherein live most of the kingdom’s civilized folk.
Baros
Baros is the kingdom’s largest city and center of trade. Baros began as a small village but over the years has grown to such a size that it is now the city from which the kingdom gets its name. Its location at the main junction of all four major roads means that almost everyone who lives in or visits the kingdom passes through the place at some point in their lives. It is the economic center of the kingdom.
Cutlass Pointe
Cutlass Pointe is a small town located on the tip of a small peninsula that juts out into Melora’s Waters. It is home to some unsavory folk and is considered by many to be lawless. Those that live there disagree and say that if you can defend yourself, you’ll be alright.
Defender’s Keep
This large keep was the brainchild of a retiring group of adventurers known as The Platinum Promise. When they retired, they spent their adventuring spoils in the construction of the keep and began a school to train young would-be defenders in the ways of battle.
Falconmeer Academy
Located in the Griffon Hills, Falconmeer Academy serves as the training facility for the kingdom’s adventuring class. The graduates of the two year academy are the protectors of the settlements of the kingdom. Some of the region’s greatest heroes are instructors at the prestigious facility as well as some of the greatest minds of the current day. Falconmeer accepts a limited number of students per semester and there are approximately 100 students enrolled at any given time. Graduates, also known as Falcons, are required to serve as protectors of the settlements of the kingdom for a two year term of service as compensation for the training that they receive.
Horton
This village is a rest stop for those traveling to or from Lakewood. It is known for its hospitality and its two famous residents --- Kieran Silvermoon and Roland Vonn Erick. It is currently under the protection of the ranger Silverhawk.
Ironforge Hall
Ironforge Hall is an old dwarven stronghold that is located in a large mountain range known as Moradin’s Beard. It has been around for centuries and is the ancestral home of the Slammerhammer Dwarves. The clan kept to themselves until a dwarven adventurer named Tolston Hammerbite made contact about fifty years ago. The Slammerhammer Clan opened up trade soon after and since then a strong mercantile agreement has been in effect between Ironforge Hall and the city of Baros. Members of the Slammerhammers have even left their ancestral home to bring their blacksmith talents to the region.
Lakewood
Lakewood is a large town that lies on the western shore of the Great Lake. It is a melting pot of sorts and was given its name because of its location between the Great Lake and the Feywood.
Riverton
Riverton was settled by a group of halflings. The town is a collection of floating dwellings built on wooden platforms where merchants can sell their wares. For this reason, the town never looks the same twice.
Tengard
Tengard is a large village that lies to the east of Baros. Being located between the Great Baros Peaks and the Oldenwood, it is the target of many marauding groups of monsters so living there comes with no small amount of risk.
Turingham
Turingham was founded when a handful of disgruntled villagers left Cutlass Pointe to settle a village that didn’t succumb to the lawlessness that had gripped the Pointe. The folk who settled Turingham have since become known for their honor and intolerance of injustice. Their efforts were recognized by the Council of Elders and Turingham became the home of the official court for the kingdom. A few years later Stonegate Prison was built on the small island known as the Tooth to house those awaiting trial.
