The World is far older than the 13 Ages known to scholars and sages, but recorded history begins with the First Age, and the rise of the Wizard King.
The Wizard King ruled the Known World through terrible magics. He was a horrific tyrant, whose magical experiments terrorized his subjects, and endangered all of reality.
Other Icons of the Age fought against him, but none seemed to be a match for him. The Orc Lord took the Wizard King's hand and eye in personal combat, but was unable to defeat him. Finally, the Storm King descended from the North.
The Storm King led an army of men, giants, dragons, and elementals, and wielded the power of the Primal Storm. He swept aside the Wizard King's armies of constructs, monstrosities, and undead, overthrew the Wizard King himself, and claimed the Wizard King's crown as his own.
The Storm King ruled much of the Known World, but his reign was violent, chaotic, and brief. He constantly came into conflict with the other Icons of the Age, and seemed constantly restless and aggressive, a storm that would not be contained. Eventually, the Storm King fell, replaced by the Blessed Emperor, who founded the Dragon Empire, and brought peace, stability, and order to the land, and ushering in the Second Age.
