I don't like that there is no true notice skill in the game. Rather than flounder on how to do it at the table, henceforth we will do it as follows:
Vigilance. This is your passive perception (note, this is true by RAW though they never say it specifically). In other words, if you want to sneak past a guard who is not aware and actively searching, the TN is equal to their vigilance.
Active Searching
Vigilance is equal to (Air + Water) / 2. Active notice (when you are specifically searching for something) checks will now be rolled as follows: Skill dice equal to the lessor of your Air or Water and Ring dice equal to the greater of your Air or Water. If you have Air 3 and Water 1 (for example) you would roll 1 Skill die and 3 Ring dice. Likewise, if you had Water 3 and Air 1, you would still roll 1 skill die and 3 ring dice.
