You have recovered a golden chalice from the tomb of a Vampire Lord. It was looted from the Golden Citadel in a previous Age. It's not The Golden Chalice; that's an epic artifact which would draw the personal attention of a number of icons. It's just a golden chalice; the Golden Citadel was a big place - it had a lot of dinnerware. Still, it's directly associated with the Great Gold Wyrm in the time before he became trapped in the Abyss, and it's got some mystical mojo.
It is said of this golden chalice that if you drink from it before sleeping, preferably cool, clear water (or maybe some white wine from golden grapes), you'll have a restful night's sleep and pleasant dreams. Probably. You might also receive a visitation from the Great Gold Wyrm in your dreams. Which, if you have a positive relationship with him, or with an icon friendly to him, will probably be more spiritually significant that pleasant, per se. Or it might be nightmarish vision of an impending threat rising from the Abyss which you must STOP! Which won't be restful, but it'll be good to know about it...right?
However, the chalice is currently dull and covered in stains, some old, some quite fresh. It's been in a Vampire Lord's lair for some time, and it's a chalice, so...y'know. It's obviously become corrupted, and drinking from it now will probably just bring dreams of blood and death and dusty old bones and possibly a dream visitation from the Lich King, and that's probably not something you want...
If you can just get it back to the Cathedral, though, surely the priests there can cleanse and sanctify this golden chalice. It can then once again bring aid and comfort and the bliss of a full night's sleep and pleasant dreams to the suffering, and visitations from the Great Gold Wyrm to the faithful, and dire warnings to the vigilant.
You just need to to travel across a fair chunk of the Dragon Empire, on a long, dusty road, that winds perilously close to some wild regions where the Archmage's wards are less than hermetically sealed, bearing a minor mystical artifact that, at the very least, the Lich King and the Three probably have some interest in acquiring (well, and the Prince of Shadows - he's always got an interest in acquiring anything of value to someone).
Good luck!
