Intent here is to try and hone in on exactly what kind of game we want as I realize there is some confusion over what exactly I'm planning.
I don't want to run a straight up Rebellion game, mostly because I like the time period between Episode III and IV as a playground with lots of room and not as much cannon to get in the way. For me, that's really the only "must have" element to the game. So, there are a few different styles that I can think of. I'll list them below and see which you guys would prefer to play. I'm good with all of these:
1. The "Firefly." Just keep flying. The Empire sucks and you want to be free of it, but the only way you can be free is out operating on the Fringe, taking whatever jobs come your way to keep fuel in the tanks and food in your bellies. When the opportunity arises, you'll happily stick it to the Empire, but you don't seek them out to cause harm to.
2. The "Shadowrun." As above, but with a more intense focus on backbiting, betrayal, deals going south, and the hijinks that ensue when all of the above happens. Honestly, this is probably the lowest on my list.
3. The "proto-Rebellion." There is no Rebel Alliance, but you're pissed at the Empire and looking for blood. Sure, you might have to take a job every now and then to keep gas in the tanks, but your primary concern is to cause the Empire some harm. You're effectively a terrorist cell, at least in the eyes of the Empire. This is more along the lines of the "Rebels" model. It's different enough from a "Age of Rebellion" style game that I'm all for it if you guys want more... Imperial Entanglements.
And I'm open to other ideas, too, provided we think they'll fit into the time period I'm interested in.
