A place for character discussion.
Julie's first choice would be rogue, but she knows she plays those a lot, so if someone else really wanted to be one, she's got other ideas, too.

Going to go with a heavy armored dwarven fighter. Axe/hammer and shield.

I should point out that I'm a big proponent of the "play what you want" rather than "what does the party need" school of gaming. To that end, just want to note that if the party does not have a "healer," I'll increase the avenues of non-clerical healing (e.g. potions and the like) that the party finds. No one should feel like they HAVE to play a certain thing just because a party traditionally NEEDS it. That's easy enough to work around.

I'm going with a human wizard of some description (probably the "universal" school). If there's a "not-Egypt" or "not-Arabian Nights" region of the Lost Lands, that's where she's from. If not, she's from the nearest equivalent, and her outfit is going to have vaguely pseudo-Egyptian motifs, regardless ('cause the mini does, and she looks like what she looks like). She's going to be a scholar and explorer, with a white cat familiar.

The continent of Libynos can be seen as an analog for Northern Africa and the Middle East, with some Indian and Asian flavors as well, so there is definitely an analog for Egypt. While the game is taking place on the other continent (at least initially), trade crosses the sea regularly, so it's perfectly acceptable for someone from Libynos to appear in Akados.
The simplest nation that would fit as a background would be The Triple Kingdom of Khemit. It's a huge bureaucratic kingdom that has a lot of Egyptian flavor (to the extent that there are cities outright named after Egyptian cities).
