Jeff, Movie Dave, Chrystal:
Here's my proposal for Wednesday nights. I personally prefer some sort of interaction/map/mini/etc. to pure theater of the mind. Which means Roll20. Roll20 has robust support for D&D 5E and not a whole lot else. But I don't really want to run another 5E campaign. On the other hand, I really want to do more with Savage Worlds Adventure Edition.
So, here's the proposal. I run the 5E "Against the Giants" adventure (for which I already have the maps and art assets and such-like for Roll20), but use Savage Worlds Adventure Edition as the rule set. Roll20 does support SWADE, sort of, but it will be a bit clunkier than 5E, and I'll be doing a lot of the conversions on the fly.
One of the things I love about Savage Worlds is how easy it is for a GM to tweak the rules for a particular setting, and I usually put a fair amount of work doing just that when I run. However, for this campaign, I'm proposing just going with SWADE core as-is, with the narrative understanding that the setting is a pseudo-medieval dungeon-fantasy world. So, no guns, but you also don't have to strictly stick to D&D classes, either. For example, if you want a character with Arcane Background (Magic), i.e. a wizard, who wears armor and casts Healing spells, that's fine, but they have to stick to medieval weapons, armor, and gear.
The basis for the campaign is that the PCs are heroes of the realm who have been called upon to deal with increasingly frequent and violent raids by evil giants descending out of the mountains upon the peaceful settlements below. I'll probably use the 13th Age Dragon Empire as the campaign background.
Thoughts?
