Tasha's Cauldron of Everything dropped yesterday. Like Xanathar's Guide to Everything, it's a major expansion, almost a PHB3. The intro does emphasize that *everything* in the book is an optional variant, and players and DMs should discuss each option separately before incorporating it.
It has new rules on customizing races and racial traits, and a new generic "Lineage" template that basically lets you make up whatever fluff you want and make a few choices off of a limited menu of racial traits.
There are new class features for every class. A bunch of them are just straight power-ups - you just get them in addition to the features in the PHB. Some of them are optional replacements for class features in the PHB. Some of them are expansions (every spell-casting class got an expanded spell list, every class with Fighting Styles got new Fighting Styles, and so on). The ranger in particular got a heavy re-work. Each class re-re-emphasizes that the new features are optional and players and DMs should discuss them before adding or swapping them. Every class also got at least two new sub-classes, although some of them are re-prints that have already appeared in other books. The Artificer class is also re-printed.
That's as far as I've gotten so far, about 1/3rd of the way through the book.
