OK, some of us were discussing doing a supers game, and I mentioned I would want to revamp my rules before using them again. This forum is for discussing the revamped rules and (I hope) getting feedback and constructive criticism. I'm going to start some threads to discuss various aspects of the rules. PLEASE COMMENT! Thanks.

ok, so i think i understand your broad, moderate, and narrow power levels (to a working functionality). this is just for a point cost thing, right? if this is true, would it be that each character needs 1 of each? Also, when we are looking at character creation, is it something that we come up with a concept and you assign the values of our powers or would we have a point cost that we build around? Are we still doing the ranking systems of legendary, heroic, etc.? Are we still doing edges and ranks and all that?

Also, when we are looking at character creation, is it something that we come up with a concept and you assign the values of our powers or would we have a point cost that we build around? Are we still doing the ranking systems of legendary, heroic, etc.? Are we still doing edges and ranks and all that? I'm still working out details of the narrow/medium/broad categories, but yes, those are basically just to determine point cost (both and character creation and for XP improvement). You absolutely do not need one of each, or any other particular combo or balance - you just need to pay the point costs. Which, to answer your next question, yes, it will be point-based character creation (probably). Most of you playtesters seem to be more comfortable with that, so I will follow the market indicators. As to Ranks and Edges, sorry if that was less than clear in the other postings. No, no more Ranks and Edges - you just have a single numerical Rank (1-9 for human-level abilities, 10-25+ for superhuman). Heroic, Epic, Legendary, etc. will probably still be around in some form as descriptors, but they probably won't play any actual game function. For example, descriptively, the Ranks will probably be grouped as follows: Marginal (1-4), Normal (5), Heroic (6-9), Epic (10-13), Legendary (14-17), Titanic (18-21), Mythic (22-25), Cosmic (25+). These groupings won't actually have any impact on game mechanics - they will just be handy descriptors to give you some qualitative idea of how powerful an Ability is, or how difficult a task is.
