Going with the idea of reducing the amount of dice rolling, damage will now be static - no damage rolls, no resistance rolls.
Essentially, you always "take 6" on damage rolls. Add 6 + Damage Rank - Resistance Rank, consult Universal Table.
The Damage Table will be basically the same as the old edition:
0- = CF = No damage 1-4 = SF = 1 Box 5 = MF = 1 Box, +1 Damage Rank on next attack vs. same opponent 6 = MS = 2 Boxes 7-10 = SS = 3 Boxes 11+ = CS = 4 Boxes
Or without the "take 6", just use Damage Rank - Resistance Rank:
-6 = No damage -5 to -2 = 1 Box -1 = 1 Box, +1 DR on next attack vs. same opponent 0 = 2 Boxes +1 to +4 = 3 Boxes +5 = 4 Boxes
So, say an average guy (Brawn 5) hits another average guy (Brawn 5). His damage result would be 6 +5 - 5 = 6 = MS = 2 Boxes.
On the other hand, say a low-grade super with Super-Strength 13 hit the same Brawn 5 guy. Damage would be 6 + 11 - 5 = 12 = CS = 4 Boxes.
But what happens with a really strong guy hits a norm?
Expanded Damage Table:
Each +4 = +1 Box
11-14 = CS = 4 Boxes 15-18 = CS+ = 5 Boxes 19-22 = CS++ = 6 Boxes 23-26 = CS+++ = 7 Boxes 27-30 = CS++++ = 8 Boxes 31-34 = CS+++++ = 9 Boxes etc.
Or
+5 to +8 = 4 Boxes +9 to +12 = 5 Boxes +13 to +16 = 6 Boxes etc.

Without a Resistance Roll to auto-crit fail, how does lethal damage work in the new system?
Lethal Damage automatically inflicts +1 Box of Damage. That's it. Simple, I hope. Lethal Damage also heals more slowly.
How do you stop Lethal Damage? Armor.
If you have Armor at a Rank equal to or higher than the attack's Damage Rank (or Penetration Rank for special materials), it converts Lethal Damage to regular Damage.
So, say a guy (with Brawn 5) gets shot with a gun with a DR of 5. Using the damage system from the last lesson, that would be...anyone? Yes, you in the back? That's right, 2 Boxes. Except it's lethal damage, so that increases to 3 Boxes, which heal more slowly. Now suppose our guy had Armor 5. The gun would only do 2 Boxes of regular Damage. Yay! On the other hand, if he next gets shot with a Gun 7, that would be 6 + 7 - 5 = 8 = SS = 3 Boxes, +1 for Lethal = 4 Boxes of Lethal Damage, and the Armor doesn't help. Ouch.
Is armor good for anything else? For those of you familiar with my views on the subject, in most of the source material, armor doesn't seem to really do much other than stop bullets and other lethal attacks from penetrating. Most of the time, if you punch somebody in armor, it seems to hurt them just as much. There are enough counter-examples, and common sense, for the following rule:
If your Armor Rank is equal to or higher than your Resistance Rank, you gain +2 to your Resistance Rank. So, in the above example, our Brawn 5 victim would actually have a Damage Resistance Rank of 7, meaning that Rank 5 gun would only inflcit 1 Box of regular Damage, and the Rank 7 gun would only inflict 3 Boxes of Lethal Damage. Yay Armor!
