We attack first. Karazhan and Shorty (always quick with their bow and daggers) strike out at the Mouth of the God of the Yellow Sign. I have to stop calling this woman Yasmine, as she is no longer the being that had helped us get this far. If we can push this creature out of our realm, maybe she can be saved. I start the process of returning the creature to the Far Realm. I sacrifice my highest spells I’ve prepared and put that energy into the ritual (It’s not a learned Ritual, but that’s what I’ll call this process). Erais calls to Pelor, again, who grants him a zone of light that consecrates the very ground it touches, healing us and hurting our foe. Alistare tries his best to fell the creature, who by the way, hovers five feet above the ground. Vellendar comes to aid me with the ritual, but by starting over makes a flaw in the ritual, that needs to be overcome. A couple more mistakes like that and this will all be for naught. Most of the group keep Yasmine busy while I quickly and quietly keep working on the ritual. Vellendar helps me and we make major strides toward pushing this thing away, but my energy and powers are diminished. As I resort to my weakest spells to tap into, Yasmine focuses her attention on me. Vellendar acts very nobly healing myself rather than himself as we both find ourselves tired and bloodied. Shorty uses one of his tricks to pull Yasmine from the air, vaulting himself where she was, landing nimbly on the ground, and positioning her where Alistare and Erais can strike at her. Erais, with what seams like such ease, heals me to almost full health. Karazhan shoots arrows. Alistare and shorty keep on her as she passes beyond life and continues to fight into death. I tell them to keep on the creature until death as I realize I am only seconds away from finishing the ritual. I also realize that if we kill Yasmine before I banish the entity, it will be easy for it to return to this realm. Another mistake like that and we are sunk. I ask Vellendar to double check every move and gesture I make, so as not to make another error. I truly felt that with him at my back, that we could not fail. I scream out to not kill the creature. Everyone pulls back their attacks but continues to protect me as Vellendar and I finish the ritual. The God of the Yellow Sign is banished back to Far Realm, and we are left in darkness, as the greasy yellow light of the chamber is sucked away with it.
We check on Yasmine, who is now comatose. Her soul seams to have been taken with the God of the Yellow Sign as it retreated. We retreat, having destroyed an entire Sect for the overall good of the city. I have no regrets. Well, it would have been nice to save the girl, but she started as a slave to the entity and ends that way, so I guess it all is how it should be.
Upon our return, we take a few days to shop, study, take Yasmine’s comatose body to the temple of Pelor to see if they can do anything with it, and maybe care for it. We learn that Stark, the owner of the Bloated Goat, has hired on new help; a pale, Humanish, almost pretty girl with long dark hair named Sha’Kira that shivers a lot. Or shakes. Cause that turns out to be what they call her, “Shakes.” We know this because a woman shows up in our lives and, whoa, stop everything and lets investigate her. Yea, she is a little weird, and is always cold, and does appear to be hiding something… Okay, maybe it is worth investigating based on our past experience.
Captain Vester comes by, and congratulates us on a job well done, and signs Alistair into the Flying Watch. He got a new concern for the city. The Festival of the Harvest Monn is in a couple days and there’s a history of violence that goes along with it. It is the time when summer moves to autumn, thus Pelor’s time to Sehanine. This party time also brings conflict between worshippers. Not just between these two gods, but add also worshippers of Lolth and Zehir. Evil bitch and bastard. Can’t we all just get along and study the Arcane. We are to keep the peace in Hobb’s End. Yes, that is always our job, but the threat level has been raised to orange. We have the next couple days to prepare, so I try to find the historic “hotspots” of violence and try to make a good plan for the night of the Festival. Time seems to drag, however. It’s like the wait for the festival is twice as long as it should be. I suppose it will be upon us soon enough.
