Battle of Bal'Barath
The Battle over the risen continent of Bal'barath was epic. Under the command of Halo, the collective heroes of Earth rushed towards the largest gathering of villains in history. Hypertech Gun platforms firing arcs of lethal energy set the skies on fire as the Technocracy did their best to soften the army of metahumans rushing Bal'Barath's shores. The blackest clouds furled overhead as hero and villain alike struck blows that boomed like thunder and sent great fissures across the surface of the continent below. The elements themselves were manipulated like never before, the very essence of the Earth and beyond pushed to their limits, as metahuman killed metahuman with savagery and a burning desire for either power, survival or justice. Hundreds were slain by the brutal conflict, many more wounded and sent spiraling from the sky to crash into the dark waves below. And then came the Negabomb...
Amidst the chaos of the battle even metahumans with superior hearing had trouble noticing the UN bomber and the two fighter escorts that came bursting through the storm clouds. Just before the Negabomb fell, Halo was impaled by a twisted length of sharpened steel, but not many saw their leader slain. The bomb fell like a pebble in a pond, small and insignificant amongst the mighty, but just before it hit the surface of Bal'Barath, it exploded in a sunburst of hazy white light.
The metahumans instantly lost their powers.
Those in mid flight went tumbling to the jagged stone outcroppings jutting from Bal'Barath. Those on the ground were thrown off their feet from the impact, but most kept their lives despite the failing of their powers. As was promised, hero and villain alike lay sprawled along the continent-silent, still and weak.
