Shit! Where in the Far Realms did I set my journal. I just had it when we fought those gricks and that eyeball thing here in this decrepit tower. I feel like I carry this thing open everywhere I go and now I can’t find it. Oh, well I guess it will turn up. I’ll jot some notes here.
Balthazar was fed up with everything. Nothing but killing, slaughter and blood. He longed for us to really get to know each other, spend time “talking” with each other, or perhaps other denizens of this gods forsaken section of town. He took his leave of us to find another job. He may be back.
The rest of our group was determined to search this tower room by room, some to make sure we found the Stone of Ioune, another to make sure we weren’t flanked by something we missed, others for the pure joy of slaughter. I felt we should hurry to make sure Malchior didn’t already have the stone and risk a little quicker trip down through the tower. I was outvoted. We busted down the next door to find a very imposing stairwell. Deciding it was safe to turn our back on the stairs we continued to the next section of the ground floor.
Garrett reconnoitered and informed us of sleeping creatures around the next corner. We hit them fast, trying to get the jump on them. We got a few good shots in early as they struck back at us. Out of a nearby room another Grimlock and a slime covered female human came at us. She really had it out for us and especially seamed to hate the “Wizard.” Since “Wizard” is me I tried to stay wary and Trevor and Persephonie did a pretty good job staying between me and her. One Grimlock got around and in my face, but my only surviving original co-party member Alistaire immediately charged right at him. I hit him with a Spectral Ram and got him out of my face and to the rest of the group. Garrett faced down a few Grimlocks as they boxed him into a corner, but managed to stand toe to toe with them and never backed down. Persephonie dished out the healing and Trevor took it. Alistaire got all the healing he needed from Persephonie also, while taking unbelievable hit after hit and barely being phased. As I dropped back down the hallway the bitch came at me from a side room, a quick Fey Step later with a charge by Alistare and he was in her face. I gave Garrett the flank he needed to dish out massive damage and drop another Grimlock. Once down to just the bitch we surrounded her and pounded on her until finally one of “Wizards” Magic Missiles put her down. She called out to someone as she died, but honestly I wasn’t interested, I just wanted her out of our way so we could get back to business.
After a quick search for the stone (it wasn’t there, surprise) we went down the stairs. Up was totally blocked. At the next landing down we spread out and searched around quickly for any threats. We quickly found two. A pair of Destrachans thought they found dinner. They were wrong. Again with a final Magic Missile to cap off the fight as Alistare climbs out of a hole, we catch our breath and prepare to knock down a few more doors on this first basement level of this tower.
