The Dwarf
Glory and Riches. What every good and honest Dwarf desires..
Before the Spellplague, three Dwarven kingdoms lived as neighbors along what was once known as the Great Rift. To the North of the Rift stood Hammergate, to the South Eartheart and between them was Underhome; the strongest of the three. The three nations, having warred amongst themselves in years past for ore and resource, had laid their hammers and axes aside and pledged never to take arms against their kin again. In fact, it was at this time that a pact was formed. The dwarves crafted three magical horns- one of the finest iron, one of the strongest steel and one of the purest mithral. Imbued with powerful magics and enchanted with the ability to be heard from hundreds of miles away, the horns were gifted to each Nation's Champion so that in times of great need they could be blown to summon the aid of each kingdom's new found allies.
When Mystra was slain and the face of the world reshaped by the backlash of her death, the bulk of the Great Rift collapsed in to the Underdark creating what is now known as the Underchasm. The Dwarven nations balanced dangerously on the eastern rim of the massive sinkhole, their inner defenses torn apart and their homes left exposed to sinister creatures below. It wasn't long before the monsters of the Underdark began to surge up from beneath.
An army of drow, orc slaves and kobold tunnelers assaulted the weakened walls of Underhome taking full opportunity of the vast opening the Underchasm presented. When Grulm Grimiron, Champion of the Underhome Dwarves, blew the mithral horn in hopes of rallying the nations of Eartheart and Hammergate, a cheer went up from the weary folk of Underhome.
But aid did not arrive.
In a final act of desperation, the Underhome dwarves fled the bulk of their kingdom and retreated in to the deep mining tunnels beneath their home, sealing massive barred doors behind them. They have not been heard from since.
Seek the Horn of Underhome and what may remain of your people. Glory and Gold that you have yet to dream of will come from its finding.
