Upon her death, for Mystra knew of Shar's envy and the cruelty of the company she kept, a contingency was triggered even as the ragged ends of the Weave snapped and flayed sending the realms in to chaos.
The source of this contingency is unknown, but it's purpose is. If Mystra were to perish then a starburst of her essence was to enter the battered Realms and seek out heroes with a touch of destiny about them. To a mortal, such a prospect would seem like something from a fairy tale, but to the Gods this sort of Contingency is well known. In fact, during the Times of Trouble it was this very act on Mystra's behalf that passed the mantle of Goddess of Magic on to begin with.
However, Mystra understood that the Realms had become even more perilous then they had once been. With the Spellplague reshaping Faerun in twisted ways and Toril and Abeir colliding, Mystra sought out a path of heroes connected by destiny instead of single individuals who might perish as a fluke to Fate's cruel hand. So, if one of her new found vessels should perish and not return, the gifted essence from her contingency would simply move to a new host set along a similar course. In this way, her goals might be met even in death.
What those goals are, however, is unknown.
You five now hold the essence of Mystra about you, you are her Threadbinders, and like a tapestry you will unravel and fall to pieces should you seperate. Choose your course well. For as your own personal legends build so then might Mystra's designs for you be revealed.
