In the large, well-kept tome containing the lost writings of the famous arcane master, Bozcov, is found a small collection of writings in another's hand. Stuffed neatly between the chapters on "The Problems with Devils" and "A Mind Unflayed is a Happy Mind" are several loose sheafs of parchment containing the following.
We have found them. Though they aren't at all what I had expected. They garb and gear themselves as fellow adventurers, though there is more than a subtle hint of madness about them. Still, they knew of the halfling Shorty, and so they are found.
And they are skilled. One of which, a fair priestess, has a strong connection with her God. With my own eyes I saw her raise the spirit of Shorty (alas, we found not but a buried corpse) and with my own voice I questioned him on the whereabouts of Harkon. There is also a cynical, yet rational, wizard who has much sway amongst them. He has not eyed my tattoo or questioned me of my abilities...perhaps he is unlike the others. There is also a Dragonborn which I have been told has the capabilities, and aye, a history of mauling his foes. He has already angered the hot tempered Minotaur that travels with me. I hope it does not come to blows. A Rake, I presume, by the name of Garrett has his eyes on "disarming" the traps of dearDawn Kyeel. Lets hope he does not stumble across her love of the Eladrian Red. And then there is Trevor...an odd sort. His companions swear he travels and consorts with an invisible demon and he has it in his mind that he and I are brothers. He seemed so convinced that I was somewhat swayed myself. But, others have tried to use me in the past. To exploit my lost identity and my...powers. And one who dances with devils may have dark pacts planned for their futures...and any who travel down their fel roads..
There is good news, however! We now have a course to match our grim destination and the odd ones have opted to join us on our quest to find the vile Captain. They have not asked for coin like the mercenaries we have encountered, no- these ones have reasons of their own.
I have been invited to a special feast in honor of their most recent deeds. I plan to use this time to get to know a bit more about my new traveling companions. The world is full of interesting and noble folk and I would be a fool to take them at face value. Virtue can be found in unlikely places. After all, we all have our secrets...just some of us are blessed with the ability to remember exactly what those secrets are.
Until the ink runs once more,
Vexius
