Max is certainly willing to talk to the magus. Maybe he would provide some clockwork mechanism that we could control to fight against the horde.

Make a deal with one evil in order to fight another evil? Yeah, that always works. One thing to keep in mind: what reason are you going to give the Magus to help you? Remember, he also seems bent on conquest, and, from your previous experience with his forces, most of them are constructs, and don't need to eat, so he is unlikely to care much about the destruction of farmland - he may well be content to let the orc horde soften up resistance, see who wins, and then attack the weakened victor.

The main ideas seem to be:
1. Talk to the magus. Make a deal with the dark side. 2. Investigate the Orb of Night. Hope that is worth looking for. Get it. Use it. 3. Send investigators to the Library at Telos to find a better idea. 4. Attack and kill the horde straight up.

Worth talking about:
1. Enlisting aid from the lizardfolk. They could be in harms way etc. 2. Aes Garathon. May help if they think the Orcs are aimed that way. 3. If anyone goes to Telos, max could see if any friends from the bar left a forwarding address. Try to get aid from them. (Especially if we are going to Telos anyway) 4. Find the Justicar of the bone hills and gain aid or knowledge of what could help. 5. Go to the bone hills and tell them of a gigantic feast that is bordering their lands and would they like to snack. (Of course this could create an army of undead, but if Ash could take them out I'm sure Mattias could)
